We here at naijaborn.com are pleased to present our Naijaborn of the week Mr. Uchay Joel Chima.

He’s a 38 year old multi-media artist currently based in Lagos, Nigeria. Uchay creativly uses junk, sand, charcoal blocks, wax, colours and varieties of found objects to make aesthetically exceptional creations. “Poetically imagine a fusion of debris of science and the inspiration of art". Uchay graduated in 1997 from the Art School of the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, and has already exhibited his work in Nigeria, South Africa and Canada - unveils paintings and thought provoking installations which figuratively dissect the anatomy of realities around us whilst employing conventional and unconventional approaches in his restless exploration.

He is presently working on what he calls Residue Collection of Societal and Environmental Mishaps: HABITAT LOSS. The goal of this project is to promote and create awareness for socio-economic aesthetic and environmental conservative based lifestyle as a contribution to climate protection.

we have finally found a solution to handle our newsletters and we wish that all users of naijaborn.com visit our TERMS OF SERVICE page here http://www.naijaborn.com/beta/home/terms . The terms state how the newsletter engine works and also helps users know we will never spam them. In every newsletter we will give you a clear link to opt-out any day, anytime.

Our newsletter engine will spearhead our NAIJABORN OF THE WEEK initiative where-in we will profile one Nigerian every week , along with his/her biography, his/her achievements and how to contact him/her. The person we will be profiling must be a registered user of naijaborn.com, thats the only criteria nothing more and nothing less .

If you know any Nigerian that would like to be profiled in our weekly newsletter, simple ask them to create an account on naijaborn.com, upload their pictures, make some friends, upload their art, music and more. Then apply to be the naijaborn of the week by sending a mail to info@naijaborn.com

Smart Security Move for Naijaborn.com

Today we noticed some security issues on naijaborn.com and we had to respond pretty fast. A user kept sending the same message to members asking for frienship and passing his or her email. Noticing it we decided to develop the platform more by only allowing members to send messages to their fans. If I am your fan you can send me a message and if i am not your fan or if I make you my star, there is no way I can send you a message. So if someone sends you alot of messages you dont want, just go to their profile and remove them from your network because only people you add to your network can send you messages. We working hard every day to make naijaborn.com a better and more secure platform and we will continue researching on better ways to let users send messages to strangers without spamming but in the mean time. show ya sef and no one will disturb you with messages unless you are interested in the person and you have added that person to your network.

We are actively reworking the core platform, we have actually redeveloped the dashboard to allow mutliple upload of songs and art, and we are also making it more easy for users to delete content they post. These features are in active testing right now. Once they are ready we will roll them out and inform you.

We recently developed the naijaborn.com API but its been released in private beta where only naijaborn team and partners will be able to build upon while we make it more robust for every Nigerian or African developer to consume in future.

Other things in active development include our invitation module and our newsletter engine
